How to control our emotions?
It's quite difficult nowadays to gain control over emotions, maybe because of the content we are constantly consuming. Life is not hard, but we are so messed up inside our heads that we think there's no way out.
I personally follow the Stoicism for life. Where one of the greatest stoics, Seneca said, "We suffer more often in imagination than reality."
This is right for everyone reading this. We have to understand that we are creating problems that don't even exist. We are wondering about the things we can't control. And sadly that's most of us.
So what are the solutions for it? And how can we implement that in our lives?
Well, there are plenty of solutions.
- Focus on the things which you can control
What I mean by that is we can't control everything, let's be fair. We can't decide when the weather is going to be rainy or whether it will be sunny. So stop focusing on that part. But start using it for your own. Like don't gad sad that you can't get out with your girlfriend because it's raining but wait for the rain to stop so that you could go with her to eat some spicy things. I hope you got it.
- Stop criticising others.
Well, life is quite small to count other mistakes, focus on yours. If someone is hurting you, they are learning the lessons too. The lesson of karma. If you won't stop focusing on others, you can't on yours.
- Start prioritising yourself.
I know you are a great human and you want to help everyone but start with yourself first. Why can't you put yourself first? If you love yourself, others will do too. Nobody like to hung out with a person who thinks terribly about himself/herself.
